A late flight can give you a bonus holiday day, but only if luggage, changing and the airport journey are sorted. Deal with the practical bits before settling into another long lunch.
Ask your accommodation first
Check checkout time, luggage storage, late-checkout cost and any changing facilities. Ask whether you can continue using facilities after checkout; this is not automatic, even if your flight is much later.
Stay within an easy return
Choose a nearby lunch, seafront walk or café rather than a distant excursion. Keep your transport pickup instructions and luggage-collection time in mind. Leave enough time to change and retrieve everything without a sprint.
Follow your airline and transfer timings
Confirm the airport journey and the airline’s recommended arrival time for your flight. Keep documents, chargers and essentials in your hand luggage. Check under the bed and in the safe before leaving; holiday souvenirs are optional, passports less so.
