Benidorm Tapas & Restaurants: An Old Town Food Guide
Explore Benidorm Old Town tapas, pintxos and seafood, with a checked venue shortlist, budget tips and practical advice on ordering.

Guide reviewed: 14 October 2026. Check current menus, opening arrangements and transport services before making a special trip.
Start your food adventure in the Old Town
For a relaxed evening of small plates, start around the Old Town’s tapas streets and Plaza de la Constitución. Choose a couple of dishes, see what you enjoy, then decide whether to stay for dinner or try another bar. A few stops can make a lovely evening without committing to a large meal straight away.
This is a practical shortlist based on the venues’ published information, rather than a league table of reviews. Menus, prices and kitchen hours can change: check the board or menu before ordering.
Three places to consider
La Cava Aragonesa
Choose it for: yescas, sharing boards and a traditional tapas stop.
The venue describes yescas as toasted bread with olive oil and tomato, paired with toppings. Its menu also includes meats, cheeses and preserves. You will find it at Plaza de la Constitución, 2, making it a useful starting point for an Old Town evening.
Pintxos Aurrera
Choose it for: Basque style pintxos and shared raciones.
This Grupo Aurrera venue is a good option when you want to try several smaller bites before choosing a larger plate. Ask how the pintxos are priced and whether you order at the bar or from your table; the serving arrangement can vary.
La Mejillonera
Choose it for: mussels, seafood and rice dishes.
Its published menus make it a useful alternative to a bread based tapas evening. The restaurant lists its address as Paseo de la Carretera, 16. For a rice dish, check the minimum number of diners, preparation time and whether the displayed price is per person.
Tapas, pintxos or raciones?
| Menu term | What to expect | Useful question |
|---|---|---|
| Tapas | A smaller dish or serving | How many portions would you recommend? |
| Pintxos | Small bites, often presented on bread | Are they priced individually? |
| Raciones | Larger plates that are often shared | Is a half portion available? |
| Rice dishes | A more substantial meal | Is that price per person, and is there a minimum order? |
Portions differ between venues. Do not assume a tapa is included free with a drink: ask what is included before ordering.
Choose an evening to suit your budget
- A lighter stop: order one or two priced bites and a drink, then add more if you need them.
- A shared meal: agree a total budget and choose a few raciones for the table. Check portion sizes so you do not order everything at once.
- A longer dinner: compare a seafood or rice meal with the cost of several separate tapas stops, including drinks.
These are ways to control spending, not fixed price bands. Look for a current menu with clear prices and ask about bread, extras and any minimum order. A busy bar is not automatically the cheapest option.
Make it part of your Benidorm day
Browse the Old Town guide, take a promenade stroll, then leave time for dinner before your show. Use the Benidorm365 app to browse its food directory and What’s On listings. Save places and events available in the app to build your own day.
For children, check seating and smaller portions before settling in. If you have dietary requirements or an allergy, speak directly to staff about ingredients and preparation; a short menu description cannot confirm suitability.
Questions before you go
Should I book?
For a specific dinner time, a larger group or a rice meal, ask the venue about reservations. For a casual tapas stop, check whether tables or bar spaces are available when you arrive.
Can I eat early?
Check the kitchen’s serving times rather than relying only on the bar’s opening hours. Some venues may serve drinks while food service is paused.
Where should I go afterwards?
Browse live entertainment and allow enough travel time between your meal and the show.
