Choose transport to fit your journey

The best way to travel around Benidorm depends on your starting point, destination and comfort with walking. A promenade stroll can be part of the holiday; a bus or taxi may suit a longer trip, luggage or a late finish. Plan your return as well as your outward journey, particularly if you are going to an evening show.

Use the comparison below to choose a starting option, then check the operator’s current route or timetable for your actual travel date.

Walking: make the journey part of the day

For nearby food stops, beach visits and shopping, walking may be the simplest choice. Choose your route with the weather and terrain in mind. Parts of the Old Town and inland or hillside routes can involve slopes or steps, so do not assume the shortest route is the easiest.

If you need a step free route, check it before leaving. Allow time for shade, water and breaks in warmer weather. See the beach guide and Old Town guide to plan the area you want to explore.

Local buses: check the route before boarding

Avanza publishes routes and fares for the Benidorm area. Its official information, updated on 21 July 2026 and checked for this guide on 14 October 2026, states a €2 single fare for journeys in its interurban concession. Check the current tariff and your specific service before travelling; this is not a quoted airport coach or TRAM fare.

Check the direction as well as the route number, identify your boarding stop and look up the last suitable return service. If you will make several journeys, compare available tickets or passes with individual singles. Confirm payment methods and luggage arrangements with the operator rather than assuming every service is identical.

TRAM: plan from station to station

TRAM d’Alacant provides an official journey planner, maps, fare information and service notices. Use the station names and your travel date when planning a journey. Include the trip to and from the stations in your total travel time: a rail service may be useful for a day out without being the closest option for a short trip within town.

Check any interchange and return departure before setting off. Fares depend on the ticket and journey; do not use the local bus price as a TRAM estimate. The operator also publishes station accessibility information.

Taxis and airport journeys

A taxi can be convenient for a direct trip with luggage or after an evening out. Use an official pickup point or a recognised booking service, and ask about the likely fare, vehicle size and any particular access needs. Keep your accommodation address ready for the return trip.

For Alicante–Elche Miguel Hernández Airport, Aena lists the Benidorm bus connection and ALSA provides route information and tickets. Allow for your flight check in time, luggage and possible traffic when choosing a departure. A private transfer may suit a group or a specific arrival time.

Read our airport transfers guide for the fuller comparison. Airport travel is a separate journey from local bus travel, with its own fares and booking arrangements.

Plan the whole day in Benidorm365

Choose a breakfast, an activity and an evening show, then allow travel time between them. The Benidorm365 app lets you browse its listed places and events and save available favourites. Nearby suggestions can help when you choose to share your location, but they do not replace a transport timetable.

Transport questions

Can I use the €2 bus fare for an airport trip?

Do not assume so. That figure refers to Avanza’s stated interurban concession fare. Check ALSA’s current airport service price separately.

Will I need a car for a Benidorm holiday?

It depends on your accommodation and plans. Compare walking, bus, taxi and rail options before adding car hire and parking costs.

How do I check accessible travel?

Ask the operator about your route, station or vehicle and your particular needs. A general service description cannot confirm every part of your journey.
