Which part of the Old Town should you head for?

For a tapas-led evening, start around Plaza de la Constitución and Calle Santo Domingo. You can choose a small plate before deciding whether you want a full meal. If your group would rather find a familiar pub, look at the Buen Retiro and Calle del Pal options below. Santa Faz and the surrounding streets offer more drinks and late-night choices.

The useful thing about an Old Town evening is that you can plan around a few nearby streets rather than crossing the resort between every stop. Pick a meeting point before you split up: narrow streets and a busy terrace can make a vague “see you outside” surprisingly unhelpful.

Choose your kind of evening

Pub catch-up

Start with Little Coopers, Little Britannia or The Pig n’ Whistle. If a particular match or performance matters, ask the venue before heading over.

Cocktails and conversation

Look at NOVA for a cocktail-focused stop, or Casper’s if you want a café lounge that also offers food. Groups should check whether a booking is useful.

Tapas first

La Cava Aragonesa, Gaztelutxo and the Aurrera venues give you several food-led starting points. Ask about portion sizes before ordering for the whole table.

A simple Old Town evening plan

  1. Choose food first. Meet around the central tapas streets and decide whether you want snacks or a sit-down meal. Our Old Town tapas guide helps with that choice.
  2. Pick one nearby bar. Choose by atmosphere rather than trying to visit every name on a list. Keep the directions open until everyone has arrived.
  3. Check tonight’s entertainment. Show times change. Use a current venue programme or the What’s On page instead of assuming a regular act is playing.
  4. Plan the return. Check the route back to your accommodation while your phone has charge. For a late finish, agree where you will meet for the journey home.

LGBTQ+ bars and cabaret

The Old Town selection includes LGBTQ+ venues such as Sensations, El Papagayo and Company Bar. Use their current pages to check the atmosphere and plans for the night you are visiting. For cabaret, look for a dated programme: a bar’s category does not guarantee a performance every evening. Everyone in your group should check the venue’s age and entry arrangements where relevant.

How we put this guide together

Addresses and venue categories come from the Benidorm365 directory and the linked venue websites, venue social pages and local listings. We do not describe this as a personally tested ranking. The map links search by venue name and address, so check the destination shown before starting your route.
